A Blinded Horse Dreams of Hippocampi Reading & Release Party

Join us Sunday June 26th for a staged reading and release party for our newest publication, Justin Maxwell's A Blinded Horse Dreams of Hippocampi & Other Plays. These short plays are a collection of the poetic and unexpected. They include unassigned dialog and scene order determined by the spinning of a wheel. A chorus of seahorses sings, a car and a store have relationship problems, and Van Gogh meditates on his own death.

Doors open at 7:30 for elbow rubbing, complimentary wine, and being the first to lay hands on the collection, hot from the presses. A staged reading of selected works - directed by Jon Greene and read by Andrea Watson, Glen Aucoin, Sean Glazebook, and the playwright himself - will start at 8pm. There will be a brief Q&A and signing to follow.

Staged Reading & Launch Party for A Blinded Horse Dreams of Hippocampi & Other Plays

7:30PM Sunday June 26, 2016

The Theater at St. Claude

2240 St. Claude Ave

"Look under the lines of evolution that Maxwell charts and you will see from horse to seahorse to ice cream store to singer to artist a through line of dreamers that have been told dreaming is not worth doing in a land of seeming plenty. Yet Maxwell insists that dreaming is necessary, especially the kind that courts the dangerous sublime."

-Foreword by Caridad Svich, OBIE Lifetime Achievement Award Winner

The launch party & staged reading will directly follow a performance of Jim Fitzmorris' new play, The Killing of a Lesbian Bookie beginning at 6pm. Lovers of strange theater should keep their eyes on this venue because The Theater at St. Claude will also be producing the premier of Justin Maxwell's newest play Niagara Falls beginning July 21.
